The issue of Gene Patenting is becoming increasingly important. This website was created to encourage public debate and discussion on the topic. The goal is to allow different issues and opinions to be expressed and discussed, as well as to provide a useful set of links and resources relevant to gene patenting.

Due to the importance of gene patenting, the Australian Senate launched an Inquiry into the matter in 2009. This drew a large number of submissions, all of which are available here. CITE and IPRIA submitted a joint submission which is available from the senate website (pdf) or from CITE.

Genepatents.info was set up by Kwanghui Lim from the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia (ipria.org) and the Centre for Ideas and the Economy (http://cite.org.au).
